Industry News: It's National I Love Honey Day
Share
Today is National I Love Honey Day - but there’s more to it than a sweet hashtag.
We’re here for the taste, the benefits it brings our bodies, the way it adds to our baking and cooking. But loving honey also means looking honestly at the complex ecosystem it comes from, and the countless hours of time spent by pollinators and beekeepers in order to provide jars for our supermarket and farm shop shelves.
In recent years, worldwide pollinator populations have been under pressure from habitat loss, pesticides, disease, and climate shifts. Without healthy bees, our landscapes and food systems become less resilient.

What can we do?
🐝 Support pollinators by planting nectar‑rich flowers.
🌼 Create habitats - even small patches of wildflowers or garden borders make a difference in spring and summer, and leaving piles of leaves in your gardens for pollinators to rest under in winter (removing leaves removes the bees!)
🌱 Consider donating to bee and pollinator conservation groups that work to protect habitats and research solutions.
🍯 Buy honey from local beekeepers - celebrating local bees supports local ecosystems
If you’re in the UK (or similar temperate climates), there’s still time to plant spring bulbs as long as the soil isn’t frozen. Bulbs planted in December can still bloom next spring, offering vital early nectar for bees emerging from winter dormancy.
This National I Love Honey Day, let’s celebrate honey and the bees themselves. Because loving honey means loving the hives that make it possible.
